Farmers Awareness programme held in Nimmo village 

LEH, May 17: Department of Horticulture Leh in collaboration with SKUAST-K, Leh organised a one-day Farmers Awareness programme in Nimoo village regarding management of insects/pests causing huge damages to fruit crops. 

The programme was inaugurated by Executive Councillor (Horticulture), LAHDC Leh, Ghulam Mehdi in presence of Councillor Basgo Constituency, Tsering Norboo.

Around 80 farmers, including Sarpanch, Panches, Nambardar and villagers participated in the programme aimed to spread awareness about pests management.

Associate Director, SKUAST-K, Leh, Dorjey Namagyal; District Horticulture Officer, Leh, Kunzang Wangmo; Chief Scientist SKUAST-K, Leh, Dr Maheshwar Singh; Scientist SKUAST-K, Leh, Dr Phuntsog Tundup; Scientist, SKUAST-K, Leh, Dr Sonam Spaldon and Horticulture Development Officer, Khaltse, Dr Stanzin Angmo were the experts present in the programme.

All the experts gave detailed presentations on management of insects/pests. Different types of tools and equipment such as power sprayers, foot spray pumps, toolkit sets and mulching sheets were also distributed among the farmers.

An interaction session between the participants and experts was also held during the programme.
