DIPR organises awareness prog on ‘drugs and substance abuse’ in Leh

Leh, April 25, 2024: In continuation to the awareness programme on ‘drugs and substance abuse’ being organized by the Cultural wing of the Department of Information & Public Relations Leh, under the aegis of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting GoI and District Administration Leh; a similar programme was conducted at Islamia Public School Leh.


Psychiatrist & Drug De-Addiction Specialist SNM Hospital Leh Dr. Padma Angmo, Vice-Principal Islamia Public School Leh Ishay Dolker, Assistant Exhibition & Culture Officer DIPR Leh Stanzin Wangmo, Culture Assistant DIPR Leh Sonam Youton, faculty and staff members and students of Islamia Public School Leh along with parents, were present during the event.
Psychiatrist & Drug De-Addiction Specialist Dr. Padma Angmo spoke widely about drug abuse by citing various live examples to make students aware about severe effects of substance abuse.


Dr Padma further spoke about corrective measures to apply to come out of substance abuse and encouraged the participating students to stay informed and away from such menace.


Dr Padma also informed the students about the importance of seeking help from family, friends during stressful hours and also encouraged them to consult medical assistance by calling on Tele-Manhas number 14416, and also told them to visit the Psychiatric ward at SNM Hospital Leh for mental health related issues.
Vice-Principal Islamia Public School Leh Ishay Dolker, Assistant Exhibition & Culture Officer DIPR Leh Stanzin Wangmo and one of the parents, Manzoor Ahmed also shared their views.


Later, students were also encouraged to speak and consult Psychiatrist Dr. Padma Angmo with their concerns related to mental well-being
