DC Leh reviews progress on preparation of Action Plan under Vibrant Village Programme

Leh, May 30: To achieve the envisioned goals under Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) and to ensure its successful implementation in the border villages of eastern Ladakh, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse, chaired a meeting to discuss the preparation of the Action Plan, tailored to the needs of the specific villages to achieve holistic development under Vibrant Village Programme, with the concerned stakeholders.

Highlighting the vision and goals of the Vibrant Village Programme, DC Leh gave a detailed presentation on the profile of the region of Changthang, focusing on the 35 hamlets to be covered in the first phase of the Vibrant Village Programme, the initiatives undertaken to develop the Changthang region and future proposals under Vibrant Village program.

The Program shall primarily focus on 13 thematic areas to make the villages vibrant, such as Livelihood Generation, Skill Development, Housing, Village Infrastructure, Road Connectivity, Community infrastructure, Tourism, Off-Grid Electricity, Eco-System Regeneration, Telecom & Internet connectivity, Television connectivity, IT based common services centres, financial inclusion and cooperatives. Based on the themes the proposed activities scheduled in 2023 and the required interventions were discussed.

The proposed activities include an array of events, including the Frozen Lake Marathon, Nomadic festival, Cycle rally along the border, Promotion of Yak and Pashmina products via SHGs and entrepreneurs, Branding of Yak villages, Camps for saturation of beneficiary schemes, Skill Development training/camps, etc.

DC Leh urged the stakeholders, including the concerned Councillors, all departments, BRO, ITBP, ARMY, and NHPC to share their inputs for preparation of village wise action plans.

Concerned Councillors of Chushul, Korzok, Nyoma, and Kungyam stressed the need for visible infrastructural development to promote border tourism, livelihood generation, the opening of new trekking routes along with the development of road and telecommunication connectivity.

Representatives from Indian Army, BRO, ITBP, and NHPC assured their full cooperation and support in developing the border villages as envisaged in the Vibrant Village Programme.

Councillors of Chushul, Korzok,Nyoma, Kungyam constituencies; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh;  Divisional Forest Officer, Leh; Additional District Development Commissioner, Leh; Chief Planning Officer, Leh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nyoma and Durbuk, Heads of various departments, representatives from Indian Army, ITBP, BRO and NHPC attended  the meeting.
