RAJOURI, JANUARY 12: In a significant initiative, the Social Welfare Department organised a dedicated camp for senior citizens and  specially-abled persons in Thanamandi. The event, graced by Chief Guest DDC Member Thanamandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir, witnessed the active participation of the District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Rahim, CDPO Nazma, and TSO Shahid.

The primary objective of the camp was to elevate the quality of life for senior citizens and specially-abled individuals. Notably, the distribution of motorized tricycles took center stage, offering newfound mobility and independence to those with special needs. The provision of crutches and wheelchairs further addressed the specific requirements of individuals in need.

The Social Welfare Department, unwavering in its commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive community, demonstrated the positive impact of collaborative efforts dedicated to enhancing the well-being of those with special needs.

The event encompassed various informative sessions, ensuring a holistic approach to community well-being. Officials from the OSC for women and DHEW took the stage, spreading awareness about women-oriented schemes and initiatives. ICPS officials shed light on crucial child welfare programs, contributing to the overall welfare of the community.

Recognizing the financial aspect of well-being, bank officials engaged with senior citizens, enlightening them about various schemes, notably the Atal Pension Yojana. This financial inclusion effort aimed to empower the elderly with knowledge about available resources for a secure future.

In the realm of health and wellness, the Ayush department played a pivotal role by distributing medicines and providing valuable insights into holistic well-being practices. Additionally, a toll-free number (14567) dedicated to senior citizens was shared, facilitating easier access to support and information.

The collaborative spirit exhibited during this event not only addressed immediate needs but also set the stage for continued efforts to create a more caring and supportive environment for senior citizens in Thanamandi. The Social Welfare dedication of the department to community welfare shines through, marking this initiative as a beacon of positive change for the elderly and specially-abled individuals in the region.
