Slow movement on Jammu-Srinagar highway: LMVs allowed in both directions, travelers advised caution

Light motor vehicles (LMVs) or passenger cars are currently plying in both directions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW). However, travelers are advised to expect slow movement due to poor road conditions between Nashri and Banihal. This slowdown is further compounded by the movement of nomadic flocks along the highway.

Traffic authorities urge drivers to maintain lane discipline and avoid overtaking, as such maneuvers can lead to congestion.

It is important to note that the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road and the Mughal Road remain closed. Travelers planning journeys on these routes should seek alternative routes or postpone their travel for now.

For the latest updates on traffic conditions on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW, commuters can contact the Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu, Srinagar, Ramban, and Udhampur.
