Secretary Transport launches safety Audit of school buses

 Team RTO Jammu inspects Buses fleet of K C Public School

Jammu March 22: Motor Vehicle Department Jammu on the specific directions of Secretary Transport J&K Sh. Niraj Kumar conducted safety audit of school buses at K.C Public School on Friday 22nd March 2024. The drive was today conducted at K.C Public School for road safety audit of its buses fleet which are being used for ferrying school childrens.

The team was constituted by R.T.O Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, JKAS and comprised of ARTO HQ Ms. Rehana Tabassam, JKAS along with team of M.V.Is Vikas Srivats ,Surinder Kumar and Jagandeep Singh and M.V.T.A Tarunjeet  conducted safety audit of more than 35 vehicles inside the premises of school which included thorough inspections of each bus, checking for compliance with safety regulations such as seat belts, emergency exits, first aid kits, and overall maintenance of the vehicle. and more than 10 vehicles were inspected on road and trial ground Nagrota. The team conveyed the few deficiencies pertaining to fitness of vehicles, other documents besides mandatory parameters pertaining to safety of school children in each vehicle conveyed to authorities and directed to rectify the deficiencies immediately and submit the compliance within 10 days positively.

The safety audit comes after recent concerns over the safety of school buses in the region, prompting the RTO to take proactive measures to address any potential risks. A leading school of the region,K C Public School  has been selected for the audit due to its large fleet of buses that transport students to and from school every day.

 Earlier a circular regarding safety of school children in school buses were also issued bu R.T.O jammu with the direction to implement the same in letter and spirit. This is also surprise inspection to check whether schools authorities have already implemented the circular.
