GDC Anantnag organises extension lecture on ‘Microbial Biotechnology’

ANANTNAG, MAY 19: An extension Lecture was today organized by Department of Biotechnology of Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Memorial Government Degree College (GDC) Anantnag under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Muzafar Ahmad Bhat.


Assistant Professor Microbiology, Centre of research and Development (CORD)University of Kashmir, Dr. Zaffar Bashir was the guest speaker on the occasion who deliberated on the theme ‘Microbial Biotechnology’.


Dr Zaffar, in his lecture provided a comprehensive overview of microbial biotechnology emphasizing the critical role microbes play in various biotechnology processes.
The lecture showcased the cutting-edge application of microbes in health, agriculture and environmental sustainability. The lecture was attended by more than 100 participants including faculty members and students from different departments.


The deliberation was followed by an interactive question answer session where students asked thought provoking questions that were well addressed by the speaker.
On the occasion, head department of Biotechnology, Dr. Nazia Khursheed highlighted the need of such lectures for fostering the knowledge and innovations in the field of microbial biotechnology.
