Road Safety Week 2023, Swachhata Pakhwada  takes off in Doda district

DODA, January 11: Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) today organised a Road Safety Awareness Program to mark the inauguration of Road Safety Week 2023, Swachhata Pakhwada being held from January 11  to January 17. A Joint Traffic Naka was also established at 9th KM on Batote Doda National Highway near Assar.

ADC, Dr. R.K Bharti inaugurated the programmes in presence of  SDM Assar, Lekh Raj; ARTO Kuldeep Singh; Dy. SP Traffic, Baljit Singh; SHO Assar, Popinder Kotwal;  DTI, Javed Kataria and Er. Harjote Singh NHIDCL and staff of MVD, Doda.

On the directions of Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner (Chairman DRSC), a Joint Traffic Naka of MVD, Traffic Police, and District Police was also established at KM 9 which will remain functional till 17th of January to check the Fatigue of Truck /Tractor/ Trolley /Tipper Drivers and to impart Road Safety Awareness, Check the Rear Side of Truck and Tractor Trolley about Red Light or Retro Reflective Sheet to avoid rear Collision, Special Drive on NHs to stop wrong side driving, Special drive to Stop Overloading and to stop entry of vehicles in  District Doda in Violation of MV Act.

The ADC addressed the Drivers/Transporters/Gen Public about Road Safety and appealed them to follow Traffic Rules/Regulations while driving to avoid untoward incidents and to ensure safety of the passengers as well as the road users.

The ARTO, while addressing the gathering, told that the purpose of Road Safety Programs was to inculcate the importance of Road Safety in our day to day life to ensure the personal safety as well as safety of the others. He shared the schedule of activities to be conducted during the Road Safety Week, 2023 and elaborated in brief all the necessary parameters of Road Safety and the Traffic Rules/Regulations to be followed.

He also spoke about the “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan” and appealed to refrain from Drugs/intoxicant substances for their healthy life and safety of the others being carried by them in their vehicles.

Dy. SP Traffic also spoke on the occasion and appealed to all to follow the Traffic Rules and Regulations and to imbibe the habit of use of Seat Belts, wearing of Helmet, avoid taking intoxicants while driving etc. Besides, Pamphlets on Road safety were also distributed among the road users and Motorists by the MVD, Doda.
