RDD Inderwal organises painting competition on Solid Waste Management 

22 local artists spread awareness through their creative art  

KISHTWAR, MAY 29: Department of Rural Development Inderwal, under the close supervision of the Block Development Officer (BDO) Inderwal, Tasleem Wani, organized a Painting Competition on Solid Waste Management under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) Phase 2.

The competition aimed to raise awareness of ODF Plus (Open Defecation Free Plus) among the public by engaging talented youth through the medium of art.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 22 young artists from the region. They showcased their creativity and understanding of the importance of effective solid waste management. The competition provided a platform to the youth to express their thoughts and ideas visually, emphasizing the significance of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.

The participants exhibited their talent and commitment to the cause through their artwork with their creativity and innovation.The top three winners were selected based on their artistic expression, adherence to the theme, and overall presentation.

Sangeeta Devi from Inderwal B bagged first Place, Subhash Chander from Chingam secured Second Place, while Zia Ud Din from Chatroo Upper managed third place.

The winners were presented with well-deserved prizes and certificates as a token of appreciation for their outstanding contribution towards raising awareness about solid waste management besides; their paintings were uploaded on official social media sites of District Administration Kishtwar.

The BDO Inderwal said that the main purpose of organising this painting competition was to involve talented youth through their art in order to raise awareness among general public about ODF Plus under Swach Bharat Mission Grameen Phase 2.

He further said that under the overall supervision of Commissioner Secretary RDD Mandeep Kour and in close monitoring of Director Rural Sanitation J&K Charandeep Singh at UT level and under DDC Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav and ACP Kishtwar Zakir Wani at District level, the months long campaign have been started through IEC besides various assets being created under SBM-G phase 2 to make every Village a Model Village under ODF Plus by 01 August 2023.
