Preeti Jhangiani Sheds light on the relevance of National Girl Child Day

January 24 is an important day in the Indian calendar. It is the National Girl Child Day that voices against female foeticide, abandoning female babies and every other atrocity against them, and celebrates them in every possible way. On National Girl Child Day, Preeti, the doting mother of two sons has opened up about what it takes to raise sensitive and aware kids in today’s time and the importance of sensitising children about gender equality.

“I feel its our duty as parents to educate our children, especially sons on how to behave well. From respecting the opposite gender to treating them as equal, our actions lay the groundwork. “

The National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year in India to increase sensitivity regarding treating girls equally. It is an initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This day is about raising awareness on the rights of girl children and promoting awareness on their issues like health, education and nutrition.
