Kathua encounter: J&K LG Manoj Sinha pays respects to fallen hero PSI Deepak Sharma

In a valiant effort, Probationary Sub-Inspector (PSI) Deepak Sharma succumbed to injuries sustained during a shootout with a wanted gangster outside the Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred when a police team, including PSI Sharma, laid a trap for the gangster in connection with a murder case. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the death of the gangster and injuries to PSI Sharma and another officer.

Despite immediate medical attention, PSI Sharma succumbed to his head injuries on Wednesday.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his deepest condolences to PSI Sharma’s family. In a tweet, he saluted “the valour & indomitable courage” of PSI Sharma and highlighted his “supreme sacrifice” while neutralizing a dangerous criminal.

Lt. Governor Sinha further acknowledged the “dedication, resilience & courage” of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in battling various challenges. He vowed that “every drop of blood of our martyr will be avenged” and expressed the administration’s commitment to creating a “fear-free J&K.”
