District-level NARCO Coordination Committee meeting held at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 27: In order to review the measures taken by the enforcement agencies to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district, 18th District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting was held at the mini-secretariat, Ganderbal.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir.

During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the directions issued in previous NCORD meeting to curb the drug menace in the district.

The meeting also discussed the steps taken by concerned departments and agencies for making district Ganderbal drug free. Various issues pertaining to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use were discussed threadbare.

The DC sought details about erecting banners/ flex sign boards on the Panchayat Ghars/patwar khanas which have been declared as Nasha Mukt Panchayats. District Social Welfare Officer and Excise Inspector were directed to ensure that the banners are erected on identified locations and keep a close liaison with the Panchayat members so that the said Panchayats remain Nasha Mukt.

The Rural Development Department was directed to share a standing schedule regarding the activities to be conducted in Panchayats and were directed to keep a close coordination with the Panchayat representatives for monitoring continuous progress and ensuring that the declared Nasha Mukt Panchayats remain drug free.

Similarly, Executive Officer Municipal Council Ganderbal was directed to share the schedule of activities to be carried in the municipal wards of the district.

Furthermore, all stakeholder departments were directed to monitor any new drug addiction case in Nasha Mukt Panchayats declared so far and all the departments would ensure submission of action taken report about the respective parameters.

SSP Ganderbal stressed on the sustainability of the Nasha Mukt Status of already announced Panchayats.

Special emphasis was laid on the involvement of PRI functionaries in ongoing activities under Nasha Mukt Panchayat Abhiyan so that remaining Panchayats are also declared Nasha Mukt at an earliest.

The meeting also reviewed the status of installation of CCTV cameras and computerized billing by retail medical shops in the district.

Assistant Drug Controller was directed to ensure 100 percent medical shops have CCTV cameras installed besides all shops shall switch to computerized billing.

Among others the meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad, CMO, Tehsildars, Assistant Drug Controller Ganderbal and other concerned officials.
