DIET Kishtwar launches ‘Stay Safe Online’ campaign and ‘G20 Digital Innovation Alliance’

Teachers of all zones sensitised about Cyber Security

KISHTWAR, MAY 09: DIET Kishtwar today kick started a mega Stay Safe online and ‘G20 Digital Innovation Alliance’ awareness campaign for teachers and society in general as per the schedule issued by SCERT Jammu & Kashmir.

India has taken over the Presidency of the G20 for one year from 01 December 2022 to 30 November 2023 and during this presidency period of G20, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is running a campaign titled ‘Stay Safe Online’ aimed at creating awareness among citizens including specially-abled persons to stay safe in an online world with widespread use of social media platforms and rapid adoption of digital payments.

Citizens of all age groups, covering rural and urban areas, with special emphasis on children, students, women, teachers, faculty, senior citizens, specially-abled persons, officials of Central & State Governments etc. are invited to participate in the Stay Safe Online campaign.

DIET Kishtwar started this campaign under the aegis of SCERT, J&K and today conducted an offline workshop for 100 teachers of different zones of district Kishtwar, who attended the workshop as per the calendar issued by SCERT J&K which is being implemented in all the educational institutions across district.

 The special guest of the one day workshop was Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)  Khalil Poswal, who deliberated upon various types of cybercrimes viz Cyber Bullying, child pornography, Cyber Grooming, online sextortion, phishing as the said programme was aimed at spreading awareness about cyber crimes and staying safe on online campaign  and make the participants understand the concept of protection & prevention of Internet-connected systems, including hardware, software, and data from cyber-attacks.

He advised the teacher community to be aware while surfing the internet and not to fall prey to cyber criminals. He further appealed to them to spread the awareness amongst others especially among school children regarding the day to day risks associated with online campaigns and digital transactions and social media applications in use.

The officer further sensitised the participants about several relevant laws and sections under IPC, CrPC and also about the site https://cybercrime.gov.in.

The safety measures with regard to social media sites were explained to them like double lock of profile and privacy setting etc.

Senior Lecturer DIET Kishtwar Riaz Ahmed Butt also imparted a lecture on G-20 Presidency which will provide  an opportunity to showcase India’s leadership inter-alia in climate action and climate commitments and in many other fields. He gave an in-depth insight about the G-20 presidency and its scope in India  beside other  important relevant issues with regard to the schedule of Stay safe online campaign issued by SCERT, J&K.

 Principal DIET Kishtwar Ashok Kumar also spoke on the occasion and expressed his gratitude to SSP Kishtwar for delivering the detailed lecture and hands-on sessions on the Stay safe online campaign.
