Leh, Mar 30, 2024: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh hosted a speech competition today on March 30. 

The aim of the competition was to foster the spirit of leadership and empowerment among the youth.

The theme of the competition was ‘Empowering Youth Through the National Cadet Corps’ and 

more than 15 NCC Cadets of EJM College participated. 

Chief Guest, Adm Officer, 1 Ladakh BN NCC, Leh, Lt. Col. Deepak Parashar in his closing remarks commended the participants for their exemplary performance and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in all their endeavors. He emphasized the pivotal role of institutions like the NCC and academic institutions in shaping the future of the nation by nurturing young talent and fostering a culture of service and leadership. 

Additionally, he promised to take up personality development training for the cadets of EJM College Leh.

Principal, EJM College, Leh, Dr. Sameena Iqbal attended the event as the Guest of Honor. She talked about underscoring the college’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to lead with integrity and compassion.

The panel of judges, comprising Senior Assistant Professor, Dr Sabina Basheer and Dr Tanushree Malakkar evaluated the speeches based on content, delivery, and overall impact.

The competition witnessed a vibrant exchange of ideas, reflecting the dynamism and intellectual prowess of the youth of Ladakh. Participants articulated innovative solutions to contemporary challenges, showcasing their potential as future leaders and change-makers.

The event culminated with the felicitation of winners and participants. Cadet, Padma Lazes came out as the winner and Cadet, Tsewang Namgial was the runner up.

The event was organized by Associate NCC Officers of EJM College Leh, Lt. Dr Ujwala Koche and Lt. Sayed Mustafa Kamal.
