DC Poonch inspects progress of JJM Scheme at Village Banwat Gundi

Special Gram Sabha Organised to Raise Awareness About  Jal Jeevan Mission  

POONCH, AUGUST 07:  Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary, along with the Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Circle Poonch, Rajinder K. Sharma, visited Village Banwat Gundi to inspect the ongoing work of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme.

The visit was part of the Jal Jeevan Mission Fortnight Celebration being held in collaboration with the ISA (Society for Scheduled and Backwards).

A Special Gram Sabha was held as part of the awareness campaign under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The Superintending Engineer addressed the gathering and provided insights into the objectives and progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Assistant Executive Engineer Poonch, Ashiq Hussain, Assistant Engineer Nasir and the field staff of the Jal Shakti (PHE) department were present at the Special Gram Sabha. Also in attendance were the Sarpanch of the concerned village, members of the Paani Samiti, PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions), AWWs (Anganwadi Workers), Asha workers, and the staff and students of the High School Banwat.

In addition to the Gram Sabha, a students’ Rally was organized   to raise further awareness about the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Superintending Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, field staff of the Jal Shakti department, Paani Samiti members, prominent citizens of the village, students and staff of the High School Banwat actively participated in the rally.

During the visit, the officers of the Jal Shakti department conducted source water quality testing in the presence of the Sarpanch, Paani Samiti members, and students. This testing aimed to ensure that the drinking water provided under the Jal Jeevan Mission meets the required safety standards.

The Sarpanch and other participants from Village Banwat expressed their appreciation to the Government of India for launching this much-needed scheme, which aims to provide safe drinking water at a rate of 55 liters per capita to every household.
