Baramulla police arrest two absconders evading arrest for over 25 years

In a significant breakthrough, the police in Baramulla have apprehended two long-sought absconders who had been evading arrest for over two and a half decades. Identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah, son of Ab Majeed, hailing from Wagenpora, Srinagar, and Showkat Ahmad Makhdoomi, son of Mohd Yaseen, a resident of Makhdoom Sahab, Srinagar, the duo had been on the run since the late 1990s.

The arrests were made in connection with two separate cases, FIR No. 296/1998 under Section 224 of the RPC (Ranbir Penal Code) and FIR No. 308/1999 under Section 420 of the RPC, both registered at the Pattan Police Station.

The apprehension of these absconders after such a lengthy period highlights the persistent efforts of Baramulla Police in tackling long-pending cases.
