9th International Yoga Day celebrated by Health Department Jammu

JAMMU, June 22: The 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated in health institutions of all districts of Jammu Division with the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and Tag line “Har Ghar Aangan Yog.” Special events on Yoda were held across Healthcare Institutions of the division on the directions of Director Health Services, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma.

Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers of respective districts and blocks attended the camps. The aim of this celebration was to extend holistic benefits of yoga and inculcate this habit to improve physical, mental and spiritual well being.

The participants performed various types of asanas including pranayama, tadasana, vrikshasana and drills to promote awareness of the enduring benefits of the ancient practice known as yoga. With practicing yoga on a daily basis, the aspirant feels rejuvenated and energized. Thus, yoga bestows upon every aspirant the powers to control body and mind.

For the main function held at Gulshan Ground Gandhi Nagar in Jammu city, the support of ambulance, first aid and medical team was provided by Chief Medical Officer Jammu. The staff from Directorate of Health Services Jammu and CMO office Jammu along with doctors, MLHPs, ASHAs, School Health team, RBSK team of Jammu district participated in the function.
