6 Day Workshop on Food Fortification concludes at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, February 28: To bring down the graph of prevailing dietary deficiencies and mal-nutrition within the district,  the team of Food Safety DFCO Kishtwar on Monday conducted  Awareness-Cum -training programme for Enforcement Staff including MDM  teachers, ICDS frontliners, FBO’s and locals here at District Headquarter Kishtwar which marked the conclusion of 6 Day long workshop.

The workshop was conducted to focus on the implementation of the goals and Objectives of Food  Fortification and Eat Right initiatives in the district.

During the workshop, the Food safety officers showcased and demonstrated the significance of Food Fortification viz. enrichment process of adding Micronutrients to Food and which is being carried out by Govt. as a public Health set policy within our community.

 More than 200 MDM Teachers, staff, frontliners and Food Business Operators besides locals and prominent citizens took part in the event.

Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Taraq Ahmad Butt; Enforcement Officers Prithpal Singh &  Sajad Hussain delivered the lectures on Food Fortification & Eat Right initiatives and impressed the trainees to implement the Govt. Policy in their projects especially in Schools as envisaged under Mid Day Meal Schemes and Poshan Abhiyan.

The prepared Food with Fortified products was served to the participants during the workshop.

The Commandments of   Eat Right initiatives were read out for participants and the Slogans like *Awao Kam karen thora Teel cheeni aur Namak* as well as the themes like *Eat Right, Eat Healthy and Eat Fortified* were reverberated in the workshop for participants.

Concluding the programme, the Department extended gratitude to the District Administration including District Magistrate Kishtwar, ADDC Kishtwar, ADC Kishtwar, District Information Officer Kishtwar, Chief Education Officer Kishtwar and his staff for full support & Co-operation.
