Zonal-Level Inter-Middle School Tournament Kicks Off in Khaltse Zone
Khaltse, June 02, 2025: The zonal-level inter-school tournament for Middle Schools of the Khaltse zone commenced today at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Khaltse. The event is being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Leh.


The opening ceremony was graced by the Principal of GHSS Khaltse, Tsewang Paljor, as the chief guest.
In his address, Tsewang Paljor emphasized the importance of sports in education and overall health. He encouraged all students to actively participate in such tournaments, highlighting the valuable experience and exposure they offer, especially in preparing for competitions at higher levels. He noted that sports instill discipline, teamwork, and character development, while also promoting physical fitness and well-being.
Stanzin Phelgais, Incharge from DYSS Leh, briefed the audience about the various games scheduled in the tournament.
A total of 22 schools with over 250 students from various Government and Private Middle Schools of Khaltse zone are participating in the tournament.
As part of the opening ceremony, a handball match held between Government Middle School Khaltse and Lotsawa Lamdon School Temisgam. Lotsawa Lamdon School Temisgam won the match with a score of 10–05.
The event witnessed the presence of the DYSS officials, teaching staff of GHSS Khaltse, and Physical Education Teachers from different schools of Khaltse zone.
