World Immunization Week 2025 celebrated with enthusiasm at GMC Doda
DODA, APRIL 30: Government Medical College (GMC) Doda marked World Immunization Week 2025 with great enthusiasm and academic engagement. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Suresh Kotwal, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, and witnessed active participation from faculty and students of various departments.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Bahl, Principal GMC Doda, who delivered a thought-provoking address emphasizing the vital role of immunization in global health and the prevention of life-threatening diseases. This year’s theme, “Humanly Possible: Immunization for All”, guided all the activities and highlighted the need for universal vaccine accessibility and equity.
Students enthusiastically participated through poster presentations, interactive seminars, and awareness campaigns, promoting peer education and public health awareness. Dr. Imran Zaffer, Senior Resident, presented a detailed session focusing on the current immunization strategies, challenges, and the roadmap for achieving universal vaccine coverage.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Walied K. Balwan, Assistant Professor, Community Medicine, who appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and all participants. Certificates were distributed by senior faculty members including Dr. Sumat ul Khursheed (Pathology), Dr. Khalid Muzaffer (Orthopedics), and Dr. Altaf Malik (General Surgery), reaffirming the institution’s ongoing commitment to preventive healthcare and immunization advocacy.
