Wildlife Department organizes workshop on Protection & Enforcement

SRINAGAR, March 11: The Department of Wildlife Protection in collaboration with Wildlife Trust of India organized a two days workshop on Wildlife Protection and Enforcement at Banquet Hall, Srinagar.

Field staff of Wildlife Department and Forest Protection Force J&K participated in the event.

The Resource Persons for the workshop included Jose Louies and Lovish Sharma from Wildlife Trust of India.

The workshop aimed at building the skill and upgrading the capacity of the frontline staff in light of the recently amended Wildlife Protection Act.

During the two days workshop, resource persons covered many important aspects like definitions under Wildlife (Protection) Act, synergy among various enforcement wings, dealing with wildlife cases in trial courts, discussion on provisions of CrPC and evidence Act, Wildlife crime cases, documentation and case presentation.

The purpose and the goal of the workshop assumes a great significance in light of the recent amendments and its enforcement for the cause of protection, management and conservation of wildlife in the UT of J&K.
