On-wheels special drive being launched to issue age, other certificates for seeking SWD benefits: DC

Police to constitute Intelligence sharing group of PRIs, Police, VDCs to report about suspicious elements: SSP

DODA, January 04: To facilitate eligible persons to avail benefits of Social Welfare schemes, District administration Doda is going to launch On-Wheels special drive to issue age and other certificates required for seeking the entitled benefits.

Interacting with people at the weekly Block Diwas programme here in Tehsil Headquarter Doda, Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan informed that the special on-wheel drive shall be conducted for 10 days to provide age certificate for old age pension, disability certificate for Handicapped pension and other required certificates.

Senior superintendent of Police (SSP), Abdul Qayoom and other District officers also interacted with PRIs and public.  

The SSP applauded the public and PRIs for maintaining communal harmony in the district. He informed the gathering that an ‘Intelligence Sharing’ group would be constituted involving Sarpanches, Panches, other PRIs, Lumberdars, Chowkidars, SHOs, Chowki Officers, VDCs, to liaison and report to the control room.

“The Intelligence Sharing group will report about every untoward incident, suspect or uncommon activity in their area which shall be taken up immediately with DM for timely action” he said.

 This week the Block Diwas meetings were held at  Panchayat Ghar Dugli A, Sub District Bhaderwah; Panchayat Dhadkaie, Sub Division Gandoh; PWD Guest House Baggar ( Panchayat Karmail), Sub Division Assar;   Panchayat Bhatoli, Tehsil Kahara, Sub Division Thathri and Tehsil Headquarter Doda.

 People in large numbers attended the Block Diwas at all the five locations where DC, SSP, ADCs, SDMs and Other District and sectoral officers interacted with them.

 The whole programme was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

Meanwhile, the PRIs including Sarpanches of Panchayat Trown, Baboor, Koti and other adjoining areas of Tehsil Doda appreciated the   District Administration for holding special rural revenue camps under ‘Aap Ka Tehsildar Apkey Gaon Mai’ initiative. They informed that this unique initiative has been instrumental in bringing the services of revenue department to deserving, unattended and far off people at their doorsteps. 

Responding to the issues projected by the PRIs, the DC asked for  early establishment of ATM and public washroom at Tehsil complex Doda; immediate start of work at NTPHC Pranoo; formulation of DPR & execution of Swanda to Chaipani and other roads; establishment of ATM at Trown; purchase of necessary equipment for Chenab Rescuers (NGO); steel poles for Koti Panchayat; street lights for Akram Abad near MRF; and other issues raised during the Block Diwas program held at Tehsil Headquarter Doda.

Referring to the menace of domestic stray animals in the Doda town, DC instructed MC authorities to auction the stray, unclaimed domestic animals to end the inconvenience faced by the public in the town.

 The DC also encouraged the people for use of Dustbins and sought public cooperation in making the district clean. He asked for avoiding use of banned single use plastic and instructed the concerned to enforce strictly the laws regulating the use of such banned items made of plastic. The DC, while underlining the importance of anti-drug campaign in the district, said that the war against drug peddlers shall be intensified in the coming days.

The Block Diwas mechanism has been instrumental in bridging the gap between people and administration.
