Union Minister reviews developmental scenario at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, MAY 19: To take the stock of various ongoing developmental works and other flagship schemes under taken by different departments in district Udhampur, Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, Smriti Zubin Irani conducted an extensive tour of District Udhampur to review the progress of various ongoing developmental works under CSS and other developmental programmes at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.

DDC Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, Vice Chairperson DDC, Juhi Manhas Pathania, Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP, Dr Vinod Kumar besides DDCs, BDCs and other district heads of various departments attended the meeting.

Union Minister took comprehensive review of district Capex budget 2021-22 & 2022-23, Financial/ physical progress under district Capex budget including CSS & loan, physical progress under district Capex budget 2022-23.

Smriti Irani directed the concerned departments to mobilize their men and machinery for effective implementation of all schemes and coverage of 100% eligible beneficiaries under all schemes and no eligible beneficiary to be left out.

While reviewing the road wise progress of RDD and PWD sector the Union Minister directed the concerned authorities to expedite the progress of work and achieve the targets set by the Government as per the timeline. 

District heads of various departments apprised the Union Minister about the status of different schemes taken up by their respective departments and their status as on date. The Union Minister directed all the officers to work in coordination for better results at the grass root level.     

DC was asked to regularly monitor all ongoing developmental works and get feedback from district officers on daily basis.

Smriti Irani said that the Government of India launched various centrally sponsored schemes/ flagship programmes under the able leadership of  Prime Minister. She called upon the officers to make dedicated efforts towards taking the benefits of all government schemes to the targeted sections of the society. She urged the public to come forward and to avail the maximum benefits of various schemes.

The Union Minister directed all the officers to work in coordination for better results at the grass root level. She further directed the officers to remain in touch with the people, pay regular visits and organize awareness camps in all the remote and far-flung areas so that the people are made aware about the benefits of these schemes.

Necessary directions were issued to concerned departments that all the schemes launched by the GOI implemented in letter and spirit.CEO was directed to conduct education outreach and learning outcomes. DC was asked to conduct teacher traning programme and chaired a meeting regarding incomplete works under MGNREGA in the district.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Sachin Kumar Vaishya welcomed the Union Minister for visiting Udhampur district. The DC gave a sector wise detailed PowerPoint presentation of various ongoing developmental works, flagship schemes being executed by different departments in the district.

He also briefed the Smriti Irani about the progress of mega projects viz Yoga International Convention Centre Mantalai, Chenani Sudhmahadev road(NH-244), NH-44, Udhampur to Chenani,   Integrated Development of Tourist Facilitation centre  at Mantalai and other sectors like PHE, PWD, PDD, Health, PMGSY, Social Welfare, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture,  Rural Development Department, ICDS, PHE, PDD,  Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Jal Jeevan Mission, MGNREGA,   etc.

Later, during the interaction with PRI members they welcomed the Union Minister and briefed about various centrally sponsored schemes launched by the Government.

They  projected several issues and demands which include  Pending Liabilities under MGNREGA works, Implementation of JJM, Establishment of degree college at Moungri, Shortage of staff in educational institutions, Installation of transformer, Acute shortage of drinking water supply in Udhampur city, dilapidated conditions of PMGSY road, Establishment of cutting and tailoring centre, Providing  SRTC Bus service etc.

The Union Minister gave a patient hearing and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for resolving the issues.
