Under the aegis of Duggar Darpan,  The Literary Club JU  organises Open Mike Programme &  Nukkad Natak

JAMMU, March 13: The Literary Club of the University of Jammu organised an Open Mike programme and “Nukkad Natak” The event was part of the ongoing ten-day multi-arts festival “Duggar Darpan” being organised by “Utsaah,” the Clubs, University of Jammu.

The Main Campus of the University of Jammu was abuzz with enthusiasm as students, scholars, teaching, and non-teaching staff gathered at the mini arena located at the centre of the campus. In his address, Capt. Lalit Sharma, IFS, and Convenor, Nami Dogri Sanstha,  the Chief Guest of the function stressed upon the importance of academics and extracurricular activities for the students. He talked about the rich cultural history and diversity of the Jammu region. Further, assuming a participatory role he even recited his self-composed Dogri poem “Chaankda Chinar.” In his remarks, Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu applauded the initiative of the Literary Club, “Utsaah,” and expressed his wish to see more and more student participation in the future. He reiterated the purpose of “Utsaah” as evolving the understanding of education.

The programme commenced with the felicitation of the special guests. The Coordinator of the Literary Club, Dr. Sadaf Shah presented the tokens of regard to Capt.Lalit Sharma,  IFS, and Convenor, Nami Dogri Sanstha Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairperson, “Utsaah,” Prof. Sucheta Pathania, Dean, Faculty of Arts, and Ms. Shruti Awasthi, Director Indira Gandhi Centre for the Arts, Regional Centre, Jammu.  In the two-hour student-driven programme, the presentations were curated keeping in mind the goal of engaging with the literary and cultural heritage of the Jammu region, then be it the self-composed poems recited by Mr. D K Dogra, Ms. Sabli Narania, Mr. Thoru Ram, and Mr. Pankaj Sharma or the scintillating performance of the “Nukad Natak” of the students who had been directed by Mr. Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Department of Students Welfare.Ms. Vidhita and Mr. Madan Lal performed their self composed Dogri songs. The evening was also studded with a performance of a ghazal by Mr. IshtiyaqAhmed.  

The Literary Club also launched its official Instagram account on the occasion. Capt. Lalit Sharma, IFS, and Convenor, Nami Dogri Sanstha, Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu,  Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairperson, “Utsaah,” the Clubs, University of Jammu, Ms. Shruti Awasthi, Director Indira Gandhi Centre for the Arts, Regional Centre, Jammu, and Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club, did the honours. The programme concluded with an official vote of thanks offered by Ms. Dilpreet Kour.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Prof. Vishwaraksha, Chairperson, Cultural Campus Committee, Prof. Shyam Lal Narayan, Prof. Suman Jamwal, Prof. Parmil Kumar,Dr. Neeraj Sharma, SSVC, Mr. Harish Singh Kaila, President, Nami Dogri Sanstha, Dr. Shashi Prabha, Dr. Garima Gupta,  Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Dr. Madhulika Singh, Dr. Pritam Singh, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, and Mr. Rakesh Sharma. And the compères for the occasion were Ms. Shrishti Sharma and Ms. Suraiya Banoo.
