UIET, Kathua Campus (JU) organises an Awareness Programme on “Entrepreneurship for Self-reliant India”

Kathua, September 8: To promote the vision of entrepreneurship as a viable avenue for employment among the youth in general and students of the campus in particular, the University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organised an awareness programme on “Entrepreneurship for Self-Reliant India” under Swavlambi Bharat Abhiyaan. The students of the campus participated in various activities, including essay writing, poster making, quiz competitions, declamations, and slogan writing.

Ms. Surbhi Kohli Babma, Owner and Director (Life Skills Scoop) was the expert speaker. She said that entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in building a strong and self-reliant nation by creating job opportunities, driving innovation, and strengthening the economic fabric of society. She opined that in an era marked by unprecedented challenges and opportunities, entrepreneurship continues to thrive as innovators and visionaries from various sectors forge ahead to shape the future. She reiterated that entrepreneurship is not merely about launching a startup; it represents a mindset and approach to life and work that embraces autonomy, creativity, and the pursuit of one’s passion.

Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu said that the objective of organising this awareness programme is to focus on the promotion of the idea of self-employment and to change the mindset of youth from job seekers to job providers. She underscored that entrepreneurship is a vital driver of economic growth and self-sufficiency. Further, she reiterated that Kathua Campus (JU) is empowering youth with the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful entrepreneurs, thereby playing a pivotal role in nation-building.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/C Coordinator, UIET welcomed the guests and said that entrepreneurship emerged as a prominent alternate career choice in today’s changing landscape. He further said that similar awareness programmes will also be organised in the future too foster entrepreneurial spirit among youth and contribute to the vision of a self-reliant India.

The special guests including Sh. Agninder Bakshi (Executive Engineer, J&K SIDCO), Mr. Rohit Mishra (HR, M/s Varun Beverages Pvt. Ltd), Mr. Brij Pal Singh (I/c Site, M/s Devayani Food Industries Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Shubham Saini (Project Engineer, M/s OPI Pharma Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Pankaj Mehra (Director, M/s Mehra Polyplast Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Abhishek Garg (Director, M/s  Micropet Technology Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Tyagi (Site Engineer, M/s Aeroplast Ltd.), Mr. Ankur Rana (Project Engineer, M/s Axiom Foods and Beverages Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Virinder Khosla (Owner, M/s Perma Fixer Corporation), Mr. Nishant Shukla (Director, M/s Ecoearth Bipol Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr. Rajinder Thareja (Proprietor, M/s Satyam Ispat Udyog) shared their experiences with the aspiring entrepreneurs and students of the campus. 

Ms. Ritika Goyal and Ms. Nisha Choudhary coordinated the whole programme, whereas Ms. Ritu Sharma delivered the vote of thanks. 

The faculty members and non-teaching staff of the campus were also present during the programme.
