Two days Purple Fest for specially-abled people begins at Shopian

DC inaugurates the first ever fest, VYOM at Palaash, Pinjoora

SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 28: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz lul Haseeb today kick-started two days purple fest, VYOM-2023 for specially-abled person at Palaash Pinjoora, Shopian in order to honour the talent and felicitate them for their achievements.

The two-day festival was organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Shopian at Childcare Institute Palaash, Pinjoora.

Specially-abled people from across the district took part in various activities like exhibition, cultural programmes, disability dialogues, movie screening and talent show.

Various artisans from different corners of the district exhibited their self made products and showcased them on the occasion.

The fest included Disability Dialogues wherein various issues of empowering specially-abled people were highlighted. The participants resolved to work towards the goal of inclusive development.

Suggestions from them for making a disability friendly society were also discussed.

The participants also took part in cultural programmes and Talent Show wherein their inherent capabilities were appreciated by one and all.

The DC on the occasion visited various stalls and interacted with them and expressed his gratitude to participants for taking part in the fest.

He also highlighted the government initiatives towards the empowerment of specially-abled population.

Felicitation function was held wherein DC handed-over prizes and mementos among various specially-abled artisans and winners of talent shows.

DSWO Shopian, TSWO Shopian and other officials of the department were also present on the occasion.
