Training/ Workshop on ‘Early Identification, Prevention & Rehabilitation of Specially-abled persons’ held at Bandipora

BANDIPORA, March 16: On the overall guidance of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora on Thursday organised a daylong training cum workshop for Asha, Anganwadi workers and supervisors for early identification, prevention and rehabilitation of specially abled persons.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Waseem Raja was the chief guest on the occasion, while officers of social welfare and other departments were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC appreciated the DDRC for holding the program and said such training will help the staff to deal with disabilities in a better and more professional manner. He said most of the disabilities among children can be treated or detected at an early stage of life through proper management and treatments.

He said training will equip the ground staff with skills that will help them to identify disabilities at the early stage so that the government can identify the victim and give focused attention to such children.

Earlier during the programme, the experts deliberated on different aspects of the disabilities and the ways to detect the disabilities in the early stage of life.

Resource Person, Nusrat Habib talked about the early identification of children with special needs while Abrar Ahmad, HoP, gave a brief introduction about the District Disability Rehabilitation Center and Hope Centre.

Javeed Ahmad talked about the services under DDRC besides holding a discussion about perceptions and realities regarding disabilities.

He also discussed physical disabilities, identification of disabilities, types of physical rehabilitation services, causes of disabilities and prevention of disabilities.

The experts also informed the audience about the vitamin A vaccination.
