Training programme for polling staff commences at Kathua

KATHUA, MARCH 22: The training programme for polling staff to be deployed in all six assembly segments of Kathua district commenced today in various venues across the district.

The first day of training was organized at Government Higher Secondary School Bani, Government Degree College in Billawar, GDC Basohli, GDC Hiranagar, and GDCW Kathua.

The training aims to prepare staff for deployment in 63- Bani, 64-Billawar, 65-Basohli, 66-Jasrota, 67-Kathua (SC), and 68-Hiranagar assembly segments for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections-2024 scheduled to be held on 19th April 2024.

The training sessions were conducted by a team comprising District and Assembly Segment Level Master Trainers. They provided theoretical and practical insights into different stages of the election process, briefing the participants about their roles and responsibilities regarding the conduct of the election.

The functioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was explained thoroughly, followed by a hands-on training session to familiarize the staff with EVM & VVPAT operations. The significance of conducting mock polls was also emphasized, and all necessary procedures pertaining to the polling process were demonstrated.

The training was conducted under the supervision of all respective Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) of the concerned assembly segments who presided over the session.

District Election Officer Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas who oversaw this  crucial training,  highlighted its importance in the election process. He called upon the master trainers to ensure that polling personnel are well acquainted with all aspects of their duties and responsibilities.

Nodal Officer for Training and Chief Planning Officer Kathua, Ranjeet Thakur, mentioned that the training of all polling personnel being engaged in Lok Sabha Elections will be completed within four days.
