“Terror funding”: Delhi LG recommends NIA probe against Kejriwal, Saurabh Bhardwaj says LG desperate to make headlines

New Delhi [India], May 6 (ANI): After the Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena recommended the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly receiving political funding from the banned terrorist organization “Sikhs for Justice”, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday said that LG VK Saxena is “desperately” trying to make headlines during election season.

Bharadwaj said that LG Saxena is misusing the “constitutional office”.

“LG saab desperately trying to make headlines during Election season. This is a complete misuse of the constitutional office of LG. The PIL demanding a high-level investigation in the same matter was dismissed by HC two years back. The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla rejected the plea filed by one Jagdish Sharma, stating that it is “completely frivolous’,” Saurabh Bharadwaj posted on X.

“LG Saab has earlier asked for a CBI investigation into a complaint by a person like Sukesh Chandrashekhar who is in jail for duping and cheating people with crores of rupees through his deception & manipulation. Sukesh had extorted 200+ from a Corporate house in the name of the office of HM Amit Shah. What more can be expected from LG Saab,” he added.

Earlier today, Delhi Lieutenant Governor recommended a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe against Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly receiving political funding from the banned terrorist organization “Sikhs for Justice.”

LG had received a complaint that Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP had received huge funds – USD 16 million – from the extremist Khalistani groups for facilitating the release of Devendra Pal Bhullar and espousing the Pro-Khalistani sentiments.

In a letter to the Union Home Secretary, Saxena referred to a video (which he said was enclosed with the missive) in which Pannun declares Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party “received a staggering amount of USD 16 million dollars in funding from Khalistani groups.”

“I am directed to forward a complaint dated 01.04.2024 (in original) received from Ashoo Mongia National General Secretary (World Hindu Federation India), alongwith printout of posts on platform ‘X’ (erstwhile Twitter), made by Dr Munish Kumar Raizada, a former worker of Aam Aadmi Party, referred in the enclosed letter and a pen drive as received,” the letter stated.

The Principal Secretary of the Lt Governor said that the complainant has requested a comprehensive enquiry into the allegations regarding the funding of the Aam Aadmi Party by the Extremist group Justice for Sikhs.

Saxena has recommended that since the complaint is made against a Chief Minister and relates to political funding received from a banned terrorist organization, “the electronic evidence adduced by the complainant requires investigation including forensic examination.”
