Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra Conducts Meeting with Hotel Association Nubra on Tourism-Related Issues

Nubra, 5 June 2025: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, IAS, convened a meeting with the Hotel Association of Nubra at the SDM Office, Diskit, to discuss various issues related to tourism management in the region.

During the meeting, the SDM emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in and around all tourist establishments. He directed hoteliers to ensure proper waste segregation and disposal, particularly with regard to wet waste management. He also  instructed all hotels, restaurants, and camps to adhere to fire safety protocols (SOPs) and informed that surprise inspections may be conducted to ensure compliance.

The SDM further stressed that the burning of garbage is strictly prohibited under Solid Waste Management Rules, and any violation will attract strict action.

Members of the Hotel Association raised several concerns, including the lack of adequate public convenience facilities and the need for directional and informational signage along the Leh–Nubra road to assist tourists.

The meeting was also attended by Block Development Officer (BDO) Diskit, Shri Tsewang Norbu, and Naib Tehsildar Habibullah, among other officials.
