Sub-Divisional Agriculture Office organises programme to celebrate International Year of Millets at Paddar

KISHTWAR, March 9: In the series of ongoing “One-day training programme within the District”, under Sub-Mission of Agriculture Extension, a day-long programme was today held at Sub-Divisional Agriculture Office Paddar.

Sub divisional Agriculture Officer Paddar Sahil Gandotra, Officer and Officials along with farmers were present on the occasion.

The programme was organised under SMAE (ATMA) and attended by more than 25 number progressive farmers of Paddar Block.

The farmers were made aware about the International Years of Millets, now the Millets are called as (Swaran Aanaj).

In the training, brief lectures were delivered about the importance of Millets, it’s nutritional importance, scope and cultivation in the Block Paddar. Other central schemes were also discussed in the training which were implemented for development and uplifting of the farming community and to achieve the vision of the Prime Minister to double the Income of Farmers.

The farmers are already being benefited by various centrally sponsored schemes like SMAM which enables the farmers to obtain government assistance to upgrade their farm machinery Inputs, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, KCC, PMDP, ATMA, NFSM, PMKSY etc under which the willing farmers can obtain assistance for various modernized systems which helps in strengthening farming community of the area .

Sahil Gandhotra (SDAO Paddar), in his address, stressed on the integrated farming system in which Mushroom cultivation, Bee keeping, Cultivation of Aromatic plants. On the occasion, farming community was informed that of how the community strengthens and contributes to the GDP of this great nation and why our young generation should adopt farming as their profession to make the whole community prosperous.

The camp was attended by Sarpanchs and PRI members of the Block Paddar.
