Students of Department of Home Science, Jammu University conducted an outreach activity old age home

JAMMU, May 20: Students of 2nd semester of Department of Home Science, University of Jammu conducted an outreach activity in old age Home, Ambphalla Jammu where they interacted with the senior citizens and tried to learn about the cultural heritage and practices of yester years.

The elderly citizens threw light on the respect and care shown to the elders of the family a couple of decades back and said that today’s generation should learn about the values of old times. Prof. Shashi Manhas, who was leading the group of students, urged the students to try to bring some happy moments in the lives of such citizens by spending some quality time with them, learn from their experiences and try to change the mindset of the society towards their duty towards their elders. Students sang folk songs with the elderly, shared some light moments and told them about their vision and the importance of such activities. The residents of old age home were very happy to have such programme and urged the participants and Prof. Shashi Manhas for such a welcome endeavour and requested for more such visits.
