Special Lok Adalat held at Pul, Kup & B’pora

SRINAGAR, March 04: In pursuance to the calendar of NALSA and under immediate supervision of J&K LSA, special Lok Adalats were today held at Pulwama, Kupwara and Bandipora to take up matrimonial and other cases for amicable settlement.

At Pulwama, A Special Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex Pulwama under the Chairmanship of Naseer Ahmad Dar, Chairman District Legal Service Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Pulwama.

A total of 05 benches were constituted out of which 02 benches were constituted for holding of Special Lok Adalat at District headquarters and other three benches at Tehsil Levels of the District Pulwama.

All these benches were also assisted by the Mediator, Panel Lawyer, and PLVs of their respective jurisdiction.

130 cases of different nature were taken up before these five benches out of which 55 cases were amicably resolved and an amount of Rs1575000 has been settled in 138 N.I. Act Cases with the efforts of the presiding officers as well as by the cooperation of Bar members of the respective Courts.

At Kupwara, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara today organized a Lok Adalat across District Kupwara in which a total number of 04 benches were constituted for taking up 39 Matrimonial cases.

At District Head Quarter Kupwara, 02 benches were constituted and one each bench was constituted at Headquarters of Handwara and Sogam for disposal of cases through amicable means.

Out of the total cases taken up, 11 Matrimonial cases were settled on spot by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants.

Lawyers and litigants participating in the Special Lok Adalat expressed their joy in early disposal of the cases through mutual settlement and appreciated the arrangements of the Special Lok Adalat.

At Bandipora, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora on Saturday organised a Lok Adalat on matrimonial cases across the district.

The special Lok Adalat on matrimonial cases was held under the guidance of Chairman DLSA and Principal District and Session Judge Bandipora, Amit Sharma and supervision of Secretary DLSA, Bandipora Nusrat Ali Hakak.

Two Benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat consisting of a Presiding Officer and a member.

As many as 57 matrimonial cases were taken up during the Adalat out of which 18 cases were settled amicably while settlement amounts of Rs 5.20 lac were  also realized.
