BANDIPORA, JUNE 14: In a continued effort to spread awareness against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Social Welfare department Bandipora on Saturday organized a series of awareness and publicity programmes under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Sumo Stand Hajin and Bus Stand Nassu in Bandipora district.

The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, including people from various areas of Bandipora and a large number of Sumo and bus drivers.

Programmes aimed to sensitize the public about the ill effects of drug addiction and the importance of collective action to combat this growing menace.

As part of the awareness campaign, artists from Rishi Cultural Forum Society (RCF) performed folk songs and Nukkad Natak in the local language, which received widespread appreciation from the audience. The cultural performances served as an effective medium to convey strong messages against drug abuse in an engaging manner.

The initiative by the Social Welfare department to organise such awareness programmes at public places was widely lauded by the public. “These programmes should be organized quarterly in different parts of the district to save our youth from the clutches of drug abuse,” said Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a local resident.

District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora, emphasized that the primary objective of these initiatives is to guide the youth towards a productive and healthy life while keeping them away from social evils, particularly drug addiction.
