These events were conducted under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Tariq Qazi.
The awareness sessions aimed at sensitizing students on vital issues concerning the safety and well-being of women and children.
The SANKALP team educated students about the concept of good and bad touch, helping them understand ways to recognize, respond to, and report inappropriate behavior.
The role of Childline 1098, a 24/7 emergency outreach service for children in distress, was also emphasized.
The Students learned how the service connects children in need-including those abandoned, involved in child labour, or victims of abuse-to long-term care and rehabilitation.
The programme addressed the growing concerns of cybercrime and drug abuse among adolescents, encouraging students to adopt safe digital habits and stay away from harmful substances. The team also highlighted the importance of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative, stressing the need to protect and educate girls as a means to empower them and build a more equitable society.
Additionally, Information was shared on various women-centric government schemes and services available in the district, such as the Women Helpline 181, the One Stop Centre for women in distress, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, e-SHRAM, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan, the Tejaswini livelihood scheme, and social security schemes including pensions for the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities.
They were further introduced to the State Marriage Assistance Scheme and made aware of the services offered under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and other institutional support systems working for the welfare of women and children.
