Seminar on Drug abuse, Stress Management organised at GCW Udhampur

Awareness rally, door to door campaign held under Mission LiFE

UDHAMPUR, MAY 24: A seminar on hazards of drug abuses and stress management was today organised at Government College for Women Udhampur.

 The College also organised a series of activities under Mission LiFE campaign to educate the students about environmental conservation through sustainable life habits and developmental activities.

Motivational speaker, Prof (Dr.) Nutan K. Resutra was the resource person of seminar on the Stress Management.

At the outset, College Principal, Prof. Anjali Mahajan, formally welcomed the resource person and said, “Youngsters most of the time find it difficult to face the changes and to cope up with such variations which leads to stress, anxiety and tension. Hence, it is very important to overcome the same.”

 The Resource Person guided the students on how to relieve themselves from stress in order to excel in the fields chosen by them. He said that anxiety is a part of human nature, but it is important to know how to overcome it.

Explaining the stress management techniques, he said that the students should always share their problems with others instead of keeping any knots in their minds. He also encouraged them to be interactive so that they could learn the art of handling stress and tension.

Prof. Resutra informed the students about the types of stress faced by the teenagers. He also emphasised about the stress relaxation, therapies related to stress and stress relaxation therapy that could be followed by them and different stress management techniques.

The students raised various queries on stress management which were responded by the Speaker. The seminar was attended by Prof. Kewal Kumar and other senior faculty members. The proceedings were carried by Lt(Dr) Kamal Deep Kaur, Nodal Officer, NCORD, Convener, Psychology & Counselling Cell.

Meanwhile, in continuation to the ongoing activities under Mission LiFe  campaign, a series of activities including Awareness Rally, Door to Door campaign and a theme based Nukad Natak were held  in the adopted village of the College ‘Rathian’ to sensitise the  locals regarding environmental issues.

The event was organised by the Swachhta Action Plan (SAP)  Club, ECO Club and NSS unit of the college, in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India to celebrate India’s presidency of G20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. About 50 volunteers participated in the said activities.
