Secretary Tribal Affairs conducts public darbar at border Panchayat Khamba, Nowshera

Rs 150 cr expended on augmenting power infrastructure in Rajouri

RAJOURI, February 15: Secretary Tribal Affairs, Shiv Anant Tayal, today held a Public Darbar at border panchayat Khamba in Nowshera block as a sequel to government’s ambitious public outreach initiative.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat besides other senior officers were present on the occasion. 

The event provided a platform to the community to raise their issues and concerns seeking redressal of the same. These included upgradation of Middle School Khamba, ambulance services in the area, inclusion of eligible left out beneficiaries under PMAY-G, retendering of borewell construction at Sarya and sanctioning of additional border bunkers besides shortage of staff in healthcare and educational institutions, poor internet connectivity, widening of Nowshera  Jhanger road, compensation to families affected due to construction of Bhawani  Qila Darhal road, recruitment drive for border area youth, construction of an overhead bridge at HSS Bhawani, dilapidated state of HS Kalsian and expeditious completion of filtration plant at Handan.

The Secretary also visited and inspected the stalls established by various departments showcasing their respective schemes meant for public welfare and development. He interacted with the officials and the visitors as well to know on ground status of implementation of these vital development programmes of the government. He also instructed the concerned departments for early resolution of all issues projected by the public

The Secretary, while addressing on the occasion, assured all help in addressing the urgent issues raised by the local community. He emphasized that the top priority of the government is to efficiently and promptly deliver basic facilities and services to the general public. He highlighted a substantial investment of Rs 150 crore in augmenting the power infrastructure in the district. He reiterated the commitment of Jal Jeevan Mission in providing tapped water connections to all households, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for every resident besides constructing all-weather roads to improve transportation and accessibility for the public.

Addressing concerns regarding staff shortage in educational institutions, Shiv Anant Tayal assured swift action in this regard. He assured the people that he would take up the matter of sanctioning additional border bunkers with the concerned quarters.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted achievements and accomplishments recorded in the district under different schemes including availability of 165 MVA power against a total requirement of 135 MVA, completion of 135,962 works during the current financial year and extension of tap water connections to 64 percent of the population under Jal Jeevan Mission. Besides, other milestones in infrastructure development included construction of 2,632 kilometer of roads by the Public Works Department and completion of four WSSs under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Among others who attended the event were ADC Nowshera, DFO Nowshera, CPO, ACP, DMO, DPO, CEO Education, CMO, LDM, Executive Engineer PDD Rajouri, Executive Engineer   PWD (R&B) Nowshera,  Executive Engineer   REW,  Executive Engineer  Jal Shakti Mechanical besides other district and sectoral officers.
