Samba police seize 3 vehicles including Excavator in crackdown on illegal mining

In a continued effort to curb illegal mining activity, the Samba Police today seized three vehicles, including an excavator, in the district. The action comes as part of an ongoing drive against practices that harm the environment and violate regulations.

A police party from the Rakh Amb Tali Police Post, along with officials from the Mining Department, intercepted a JCB excavator and a dumper truck (registration number JK02CB-6454) in the Basantar riverbed. They suspected the vehicles were involved in the illegal mining of construction material.

Furthermore, a separate police team from the Supwal Police Post stopped a tractor trolley without a registration number during a surprise checkpoint near Gujjar Basti, Barian. Upon inspection, the driver failed to produce valid documents and was found to be illegally transporting construction material.

All three vehicles were confiscated by the Samba Police and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department for further investigation and potential legal action. This incident highlights the ongoing struggle against illegal mining in the region, which can cause environmental damage, resource depletion, and pose safety risks.
