R&R Commissioner reviews progress of development works in Jammu Migrant Camps
JAMMU, JUNE 13: Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) Dr. Arvind Karwani today reviewed the progress of ongoing development works in the Jammu migrant camps and took stock of the day to day issues being faced by the residents here at a meeting.

Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Vijay Kumar Sharma, Assistant Commissioner (Relief) Kailash Devi, Assistant Commissioner (Relief) Sanjeev Kumar and senior officers from the line departments and Relief organization attended the meeting.
After detailed deliberations, the Jal Shakti Department was asked to expedite the construction of borewells in the Nagrota and Jagti migrant camps to augment the water supply and also redress the complaints of some residents related to shortage.
The Executive Engineer PW(R&B) Department apprised about the progress of ongoing works across migrant camps at Jagti, Nagrota, Muthi – Buta Nagar and Purkhoo. He apprised that Kandoli -Jagti connecting road is in the process of work allotment, which will soon address the concern of residents of Jagti and Nagrota camps.
The Relief Commissioner asked the PW(R&B) department to expedite submission of the detailed project report on renovation of works at all migrant camps to facilitate the required projection of additional funds for the current financial year.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation was asked to redress the complaints of the inmates of Jagti regarding quality of sanitation work and if required, deploy additional manpower to further improve day to day sanitation facility viz. collection, transportation and disposal of garbage and refuse in the migrant camps.
The Department of Floriculture assured that a proposal will be furnished within a fortnight for development of open spaces and undertake maintenance of existing parks in the camp areas.
Likewise, the Department of Youth Services & Sports was asked to prepare a proposal for the maintenance of open spaces/playgrounds, besides organizing physical education activities and promoting Scouts and Guides activities in the migrant camps.
The Health Department was asked to organize special health camps at the migrant camps on monthly basis and also deploy specialist doctors on rotation basis in Nagrota, Purkhoo and Muthi/Butanagar camps on weekly basis.
The UEED was asked to examine the requirement of planning, designing and construction of works of sewerage and drainage in all the migrant camps and deal with issues of public health to protect the inhabitants of migrant camps from the adverse environmental factors.
The JAKEDA was asked to explore installation and maintenance of solar lights and promotion/implementation of schemes of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India in the migrant camps.
The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati was asked to promote skill development programmes to enhance employability and support rural entrepreneurship.
The Executive Engineer Power Development Corporation was asked to redress the complaints of frequent power outages and also explore deployment of additional linemen at migrant camp Jagti, particularly in summer months.
