ROs & AROs imparted training at Kishtwar  

KISHTWAR September 06: The District Election Authority Kishtwar, in preparation for the forthcoming Municipal Elections, organized a one-day training program for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs).

The training session, presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav, was conducted by the State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs), Zakir Hussain Wani (Assistant Commissioner Panchayat), Dr Mohsin Raza (SDM Marwah), and Riaz Ahmed Butt (Senior Lecturer DIET Kishtwar. The ROs and AROs were imparted the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

The training was attended by ROs, AROs, including ADC, Inderjeet Singh Parihar, ACR, Varunjeet Singh Charak and other election officials, with Deputy District Election Officer Naresh Kumar facilitating the training session.

Throughout the session, ROs and AROs received comprehensive training on their roles and responsibilities, encompassing various aspects of election management. Topics covered included the nomination process, scrutiny of nomination papers, withdrawal of candidature, management of EVMs and Ballot Boxes, poll conduct, counting procedures, declaration of results, and adherence to the model code of conduct following election notifications.

SLMTs delivered informative presentations on the ‘ROs Handbook for Municipal Elections 2023,’ ‘Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Elections Act 2000,’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Municipal (Elections) Rules 2003.’ These presentations provided essential insights into the legal and procedural framework governing municipal elections.

To ensure clarity and understanding, an interactive question-and-answer session was held, addressing queries related to election procedures and rules. This dialogue fostered a deeper comprehension of the requirements for conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in the district.

DC underscored the pivotal role of ROs and AROs in the electoral process and urged them to proactively prepare action plans for the impending elections. He emphasized the importance of staying informed about the latest directives from CEO J&K, ensuring the integrity and fairness of the upcoming Municipal Elections.
