The event was organised by MVD in collaboration with District Administration under the guidance of ARTO Reasi Rajesh Gupta. The main aim of the campaign was to address the alarming rise in traffic violations and emphasize the importance of following road safety regulations.

The drive was organized nearer Sula Park Reasi wherein NCC candidates of Govt Boys Higher Secondary School participated to create awareness about traffic rules. ARTO appreciated the NCC candidates for their dedication.

At the event, the ARTO spoke about the importance of abiding by traffic rules, urging all participants to follow them and adhere to road safety regulations .He also emphasized to ensure fitment of retroreflecting reflectors/tapes on all commercial vehicles.

He also pointed out that adhering to the rules is not only the social responsibility of all participants but also the most effective way to prevent road accidents. “In the age of fast-paced lifestyles, the importance of observing traffic regulations while driving is of utmost importance — driving is not just a means of transportation, but also a matter of life and death,” added ARTO.

“Traffic rules are not just a set of directions and regulations to ensure safe transportation on the roads but these also reflect a larger responsibility of the drivers to ensure the safety of others as well as themselves”, said the ARTO.

While speaking at the event, he also highlighted the online services provided by the Motor Vehicle Department. He urged all participants to be part of the road safety drive and join in the mission of keeping roads safe.

We are confident that a successful campaign would go a long way in ensuring safer roads and reducing the number of casualties due to road accidents, he added.

He also exhorted them to adhere to the “golden rules” of safe driving, which include wearing a seatbelt, avoiding excessive speed, maintaining a fit vehicle, avoiding cell phone use while driving, and remaining sober while operating a motor vehicle.
