Review meeting on facilitation of Trademark Registration for MSMEs through IPFCs held
SRINAGAR, JUNE 13: A review meeting on the facilitation of Intellectual Property (IP) registrations for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Kashmir region was held today at the Branch MSME Development & Facilitation Office (DFO), Srinagar.
The meeting convened by Assistant Director- MSME, Saheel Alaqband was attended by officials and members of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kashmir.
During the meeting, Iqbal Jan from the PHD Chamber informed that a significant number of MSMEs have been facilitated for trademark registration through IPFC. He shared that a total of 138 applications were received directly and also routed through Br MSME DFO Srinagar office in Kashmir region for IP registrations, out of which 48 registrations for trademarks have been done successfully, while rest applications are under process and few have been objected.
Assistant Director MSME highlighted that through Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFC’s) created under MSME Innovative Scheme of Ministry of MSME, MSMEs are required to pay only the official registration fee, while no charges are levied by IP attorneys on MSMEs, even in cases where multiple objections arise. This has provided significant relief to MSMEs, particularly those in the manufacturing and service sectors.
Additionally, he emphasized that the registration fee also is reimbursable under the MSME Innovative scheme, and advised the official of PHD Chamber to inform all applicants to apply online for reimbursement through the prescribed portal who have successfully attained the trademark registration.
