Reasi District launches   series of Environment conservation Initiatives on World Tourism Day

REASI, SEPTEMBER 27: The District Administration Reasi, demonstrating its commitment to preserve the region’s natural beauty and resources, has launched innovative initiatives to celebrate the World Tourism Day with the theme “Tourism and Green Investments.”

Deputy Commissioner Babila Rakwal supervised a series of impactful activities across the district, all designed to promote environmental awareness, cleanliness, and the overall well-being of the area.

The highlight of these efforts was a comprehensive cleanliness drive conducted at several prominent tourist destinations, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Aghar Jitto, Nau Devian, Baba Dhansar, Dera Baba Banda, Peer Baba Simbal Chowk, Sula Park, Sihar Baba, Zorawar Singh Fort in Vijaypur, and Bhimgarh Fort in Reasi.

The primary goal was to promote cleanliness and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment in and around these tourist spots. A significant amount of polythene bags, plastic bottles, wrappers, and packaging materials were collected and properly disposed of.

Participation in the cleanliness drive was extensive, with officials from various departments, including Shrine Board, RDD, PWD, Education, Youth Service and Sports, Sericulture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, PRI Members, and volunteers all actively involved. During the event, volunteers and PRI members also took the opportunity to educate visiting tourists about the importance of not leaving non-degradable materials at these tourist destinations, instilling a sense of responsibility among tourists for preserving the natural beauty of the region.
