Rattan Lal Gupta calls on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Discusses political scenario of Jammu Region

Submit memorandum to CM, seeks early compensation of Ramban cloudburst victims 

Jammu, May 24: Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to deliberate on the prevailing political scenario in the Jammu region and highlight pressing public issues.

During the meeting, the Provincial President apprised the Chief Minister that the people of the Jammu region are generally satisfied with the current dispensation. He stated that the entire cadre of the National Conference—ranging from ministers and party legislators to grassroots workers—has been actively present on the ground, working tirelessly to resolve public grievances and address emerging challenges.

Reflecting on the recent India-Pakistan border conflict, Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that the people have observed the proactive approach of the government and the party. “From yourself to Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, and the rank and file of the party, everyone stood firmly with the people during this time of crisis. They not only monitored the situation closely but also ensured the availability of essential services and relief support to the affected areas,” he said.

The Provincial President also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister regarding the tragic incident in Ramban district, where a sudden cloudburst caused significant damage. He expressed deep concern over the loss of three lives and the extensive destruction in the surrounding area of Ramban and Dharamkot area. He urged the Chief Minister to immediately direct officials to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the losses. Gupta also emphasized the Chief Minister regarding deep concern of affected families of Operation Sindoor who have lost their nears and dears and huge loss of properties, he said appropriate compensations be given to them at the earliest so that their derailed lives be  come normal.  

The senior NC leader stressed the need for timely and adequate compensation to the affected families so they can rebuild their homes and lives without delay. He appealed to the Chief Minister to prioritize rehabilitation efforts and ensure that no affected family is left without support.

The Chief Minister asked the Provincial President to continue engaging with the grassroots level and ensure timely feedback from the ground reaches the government, so that people’s concerns are addressed with greater efficiency and sensitivity. He also assured that all necessary measures will be taken to address the situation and provide relief to the victim.
