Ramban police rescues 25 bovines; 3 smugglers apprehended in operation “Kamdhenu”

In a successful operation against animal cruelty, the Ramban Police apprehended three bovine smugglers and rescued 25 animals under the ongoing “Kamdhenu” initiative.

The operation unfolded under the supervision of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar. A police team from Batote Station, led by SHO Batote, intercepted a suspicious vehicle during a routine check at NHW Naka Nashri.

Upon inspection, they discovered 16 bovines crammed cruelly inside the vehicle. Further investigation led to the discovery of two more vehicles involved in the smuggling attempt, bringing the total number of rescued animals to 25.

The smugglers have been arrested. FIRs have been registered against them under Sections 188 of the IPC (disobeying order duly promulgated by public servant) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The seized vehicles have also been taken into police custody.
