Ramban police apprehends 5 absconders in a week, including one evading arrest for 28 years

In a remarkable display of vigilance and persistence, the Ramban Police have successfully apprehended five absconders within just one week, with one individual having evaded arrest for an astonishing 28 years.

According to SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar, special police teams were formed to track down these absconders. Their efforts bore fruit as they managed to apprehend all five from different police stations in the Ramban district, including Ramban, Chanderkote, and Batote.

Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Rehari Colony, Jammu, was wanted in connection with a case registered in 1994 under Sections 279 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A warrant for his arrest was issued in 1996, but he managed to stay under the radar for nearly three decades.

The other four absconders were also involved in various criminal cases.

After their arrest, all five accused were presented before the concerned courts for further judicial proceedings. Their capture represents a triumph for the justice system and serves as a deterrent to others contemplating similar acts of evasion. The Ramban Police have urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement authorities by providing information about wanted individuals and suspicious activities.

The apprehension of Ashwani Kumar, especially after such a long period, sends a strong message that past crimes will not be forgotten.
