Poonch Campus Inspires Artistic Expression to Promote Menstrual Health and hygiene Awareness

POONCH September 02: In a creative and innovative stride towards raising awareness about menstrual health and hygiene, Poonch Campus University of Jammu today organized a captivating painting event titled “Colors of Awareness: Menstrual Health and Hygiene Matters.” in the premises of Girls Hostel Poonch Campus.

This event, designed to blend artistry with education, proved to be a resounding success as participants passionately expressed their support for menstrual health and hygiene awareness through their artistic creations.

Director Poonch Campus, Prof Rakesh Vaid, in his message congratulated the inmates of both Girls and Boys Hostel for this initiative. “The painting event at Girls Hostel Poonch Campus served as a platform for both artists and the community to celebrate the significance of menstrual health and hygiene, encourage open conversations, and challenge the stigma surrounding menstruation,” he added.

He also congratulated Warden Hostels Dr Rubia Bukhari and hailed her efforts for organizing such awesomeness programmes on such important topics.

Boarders of both the hostels showcased their talents by creating unique artworks that encapsulated the essence of menstrual health and hygiene awareness, breaking down taboos and sparking important conversations.

Dr Rubia Bukhari (Campus Officer/ Warden) expressed her delight stating, “Art has the power to transcend barriers and communicate messages that words alone cannot. We believe that by blending artistry with the mission to promote menstrual health and hygiene awareness, we can create a lasting impact.”  

She further said that the painting event brought together students /artists united by a common goal – to de-stigmatise menstruation and advocate for informed menstrual health choices.

Boarders who participated in the poster making event on menstrual health and hygiene were Shivali Sonia Proctor’s Girls hostel; Ajay Sadotra, Proctor Boys hostel; Nitish Singh Pangotra, Chail Singh, Jyoti Sharma, Simran Shan, Kajal Bhandari, Shakshi Devi, Bindiya Verma and Shaista Shabir.
