People suffering due to Govt’s wrong and anti people policies: Rattan Lal

Says only NC can fulfill the aspiration of common masses

JAMMU, March 2: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Jammu has expressed serious concern over the miseries of the people in Jammu and Samba specially Kandi and Border belt of both the districts on account of absence of proper basic amenities like power and water crises, besides the sorry state of affairs among the youth due to rising unemployment issues.

He asserted that the complexity of problems have resulted due to the wrong  and anti people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Govt at the Centre/ UT. He said that NC is the only secular party of J&K that is capable of addressing the pressing issues of the people.

The senior NC leader stated this in his address while chairing a meeting of party’s District Presidents, District Secretaries, Block Presidents and Block Secretaries of Jammu and Samba districts at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu to discuss the current overall socio-political scenario including the pressing issues of the people in these districts specially imposition of property tax and encroachment drive against poorer section of the people.

During the meeting, District Presidents namely Naresh Bittu and Sudagar Chand Gupta highlighted the problems being faced by the people especially those living in the Kandi Belt and border areas. They told the Provincial President that the life of people in these areas is miserable as they are facing the worst water and power crises at the very onset of this year’s summer season. They also brought to the notice of the senior NC leader the over stressed mental condition of the youth due to highest ever figures of unemployment in J&K today, daily wagers compelled to come on roads besides dearth of medical facilities.

After listening to the issues highlighted before, the Provincial President said that the incumbent Administration has plunged J&K and its people into the darkest period due to misgovernance and thrusting of anti people policies. He said that it is an irony that while youth are suffering due to unemployment, more than 50000 sanctioned posts are lying vacant in various government departments of J&K. He also raised serious concern over the recent cancellation of the recruitment in border battalions.

Rattan Lal Gupta said that not only this, PHE daily wagers are on roads fighting for their genuine rights thus affecting the water supply but the Administration is unmoved and least bothered.  He said that while the Administration has been making tall claims of having improved the healthcare and infrastructure the facts on ground are contrary as there is acute shortage of medical staff besides absence of the basic medical facilities in the health centres of district Samba and rural areas of Jammu District.

The senior NC leader asked the Lt Governor to focus on the pressing issues of the people on priority so that they feel some respite. He demanded that all the vacancies in Govt Departments be filled at the earliest on fast track basis, the issues of daily wagers be addressed first and foremost besides improving the basic health and medical facilities for the people. He also demanded that Govt must provide ambulance in every health centre of Samba District and Jammu rural areas.

While raising serious concern over cancellation of border recruitment, Rattan Lal appealed to the Government to raise Border Bn as promised by the Central/ UT  Govt. He also demanded formulation of Master Plan to address water crisis in Kandi belt of Jammu and Samba as every year people have to come on roads to protest against the government’s failure to address water.

Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC, appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to bring National Conference to power in the impending Assembly elections. He said that NC is the only secular party in J&K which is capable of addressing the concerns and issues of the people.
