One-day Sensitisation/ Training programme on Implementation of JJ Act 2015 & Mission Vatsalya held at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 14: A one day Sensitisation/ Training programme on ‘Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 and Mission Vatsalya Scheme’ was today held at Institute of Hotel Management Rajbagh, here.

The programme, organized by the Department of Social Welfare, Mission Vatsalya Srinagar, witnessed the participation of an important target group viz. Anganwadi Workers (Front line workers) of Mission Poshan Srinagar, functionaries of Child line and other field functionaries’ of the Social Welfare Department.

The target group were sensitized that they are very crucial to uphold child rights vis-a-vis development in their jurisdiction.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Srinagar Hafiz Abdul Bari explained the importance of the programme and gave a detailed description of the topic and its working mechanism at the government level.

The speakers shared their expertise and professional knowledge with the participants. Among them, Misba -Member Child Welfare Committee discussed and explained that if any Frontline worker needs to share details of a child who seems to be in need of any welfare schemes, for that purpose the concerned worker can directly contact the Child Welfare Committee members through various means viz. Child line number (1098), Social Media Sites or through phone calls.

She well explained the role of the Child Welfare Committee and Children in need of Care and Protection.

Advocate Zulfikar Khan- Member Juvenile Justice Board, explained Role and responsibilities of Juvenile Justice Board regarding Child in Conflict with law. He added the importance of incorporation of new skills and exploring the participatory nature of these Children for incorporating them in the mainstream society, and urged the target audience to take an active role in this regard for the welfare of the societies in general and child in particular.

Mansha, Project Coordinator Child line gave a detailed presentation on Mental Health and Juvenile Justice System and described Adversities of Childhood Experiences and its impact in shaping the future of these Children.

She further shared some immediate counseling skills which need to be used at the ground level by the frontline workers for the benefit of such children.
