NYK Doda, GDC Kishtwar host district level youth parliament

KISHTWAR, March 18: Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda and NSS Unit of GDC Kishtwar organised a District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament at Government Degree College, Kishtwar under the guidance of its Principal, Dr Jyoti Parihar today. 

The programme celebrated India’s G20 presidency and International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE. ADDC Kishtwar, Sham Lal attended as Chief Guest while ASP Kishtwar, Rajinder Singh was Guest of Honour and Vice-Principal, Umer Din was a special guest. Khushal Gupta, District Youth Officer welcomed guests and briefed about the objectives.

The programme was attended by more than 500 participants and anchored by Teacher cum NCC Officer Arif Rana.

Prof Swami Raj gave a lecture on G20 and its Presidency by India, discussing challenges such as climate change and Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas of peace, tolerance and non-violence. Prof Faisal Mushtaq briefed about International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE with a focus on keeping the environment clean and green.

NSS volunteers Asif, Mutaqen Ul Islam, Abhay Sharma, Kajol Devi and Affiya also spoke on the occasion about G20 followed by cultural performances by students. Students were presented with certificates for participating in District Youth Parliament Festival organised by NYK Udhampur on January 28, 2023, in virtual mode.

Dignitaries and faculty members including Prof Falak, Prof Munish, Prof Vikram, Prof Romana, Prof Sarita, Prof Sehrish, Prof Madhu Bala, Prof Tariq, Hidyatullah and Baldev attended the programme along with NSS Programme Officer, Prof Sonika Sen.
